Description

A mezuzah, which literally means ‘doorpost,’ is a handwritten parchment inscribed with specific verses from the Torah. Every Jewish home has a mezuzah on the doorpost and may on every doorpost (except the restroom) within the house. Placing a mezuzah on your doorframe fulfills the commandment to “write the words of God on the gates and doorposts of your house.” Deuteronomy 6:9

It is traditional to place your parchment carefully inside a protective case, and in the spirit of making every commandment beautiful, these mezuzah cases are often beautifully decorated.

The Karshi team is fond of saying, “Every house has a mezuzah, and every mezuzah has a house.” This delightful metal mezuzah case is enameled in shades of blue, featuring the recognizable Jerusalem skyline, so you will constantly be reminded of the beautiful Holy City.

At the top center of the mezuzah case is the letter ‘ש’ shin, which stands for one of the names of God, causing you always to remember your creator.

Karshi Judaica
#test

Naftali Karshi established Karshi Judaica after he arrived in the fledgling State of Israel in 1955. When Naftali arrived, he settled in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Mamilla in front of the Old City walls. Mamilla was a dangerous neighborhood at that time as it was right next to the border controlled by Jordan!

Naftali began studying goldsmithing in Jerusalem and the exceptional craftsmanship needed to make his beautiful Judaica. His small business developed a reputation for the highest quality handmade items. Naftali drew his inspiration from the Land of Israel and his family’s strong ties to their Jewish faith.

Today the business is under the leadership of his son Uziel. After school, Uziel would spend his afternoons with his father watching and learning Naftali’s metalworking secrets and artistic style.

Uziel and his team continue to make unique Judaica in the tradition of Naftali; each piece from concept to creation is made with love, care, and concern.
